Nigerian Afro-fusion musician BNXN is back with an authoritative, melody-rich body of work titled “Still In Charge.”
The focused endeavor comes at a time when Afrobeats enthusiasts are yearning for sticky hooks, rhythmic finesse, and captivating grooves. BNXN reasserts his musical domination, confidence, and creative freedom with this release, reestablishing his standing as a top-notch hitmaker.
Behind the boards, the sound architects lay down a warm, mid-tempo canvas of soothing synth chords, snappy percussion shakers, and swinging basslines. The clean sound engineering leads effortlessly, giving plenty of room to breathe for his silky falsetto and conversational cadences.
BNXN rules the tracklist with veteran pitch manipulation, switching smoothly from contemplative musings to breezy party vibes. It’s a must-listen project, elevated by high-profile appearances from Asake on the lively opening “Eja Meja” and FOLA on “Shamaya,” which offer dramatic vocal textures.
