DJ Smallz is back with his “ZEP” partners, bringing Zee Nxumalo’s 5x Platinum credentials to the party with “Ngyazama,” a brand new Amapiano five-way collaboration.
This one really has a little pressure behind it. “ZEP” has gathered more than 30 million total streams on digital platforms—which means every DJ Smallz project that drops after that has the weight of that comparison. “Ngyazama” does not try to mimic “ZEP.” It only gives a different energy to the same circle of creatives instead. ZinedinexSguche is back from the previous lineup as well as Zee Nxumalo and Brodie. Bro, Mdeshkayro brings additional dimensions that the previous record never explored.
The headline add is Zee Nxumalo’s appearance. Her “Funk 55” single was certified 5x Platinum in South Africa—so she comes with considerable commercial credentials that instantly raise the record’s streaming possibilities. Her vocal warmth also rides well over DJ Smallz’s Amapiano production structure. So the addition is never a forced thing. That seems to be the appropriate innovative decision at the right time.
Brodie. Bro and Mdeshkayro cover the rest of the area with contributions that keep the record moving without overwhelming the production. They also collaborated previously on an older version of “Ngyazama,” a familiarity with the song that shows in how settled their performances feel.
