In September 2022, W4DE and TNK MusiQ collaborated with Philharmonic and Gaziba on “France” and this record is still going strong years after its first launch.
Released on 2907915 Records DK2, the four-way collaboration rests in that soulful, melodic region of Amapiano that has aged well because it never followed fads. And the Philharmonic’s vocal presence brings an emotional warmth to the song that simply instrumental Amapiano tracks rarely have.
Since then, W4DE and TNK MusiQ have created true chemistry across several songs. But “France” remains one of the better examples of what happens when the producers know exactly how to use their features, rather than merely piling on names. Gaziba joins the collaboration, adding texture to the track without clutter.
But the reason people keep returning to “France” is easier than the credits would have you believe. The groove snaps in soon. Also, the piano melody sticks with you long after the record is over. It’s the kind of lasting power that makes a good Amapiano record great.
