P-Square Legend Mr. P, Nigerian music hero Mr. P, unleashes a warm love ballad named “I LOVE YOU BECAUSE” as one of the main previews from his new album “OG Forever”.
Refreshing is the theme here. Most love songs in the genre are about the feeling itself, but Mr. P zeroes in on the reason. “I LOVE YOU BECAUSE” is about a lady who prefers calm, emotional maturity and self-respect to social media performance. So the writing is aimed at a particular type of woman, and it’s that uniqueness that makes it hit differently than the regular Afrobeats romance album.
Even before the song’s release, the viral teaser already started conversations online. Because the lyrics hit a nerve, there is an audience for this kind of message, and they recognised it instantly. When lines about authenticity versus drama come from an artist who’s been in the game long enough to mean what he says, it hits different.
This release also builds on actual momentum. Mr P. And already, his 2026 single “I Can’t Look Away”, showed he still has strong output as a solo act. But “I LOVE YOU BECAUSE” takes it out of whatever that record was doing and into something gentler and more methodical. But it doesn’t feel slow. The Afrobeats production keeps the heat on and going all the way through.
It is the proper decision as an artist who is still navigating the solo chapter after P-Square to release music that is this concentrated and emotionally grounded. Seems like there’s going to be some actual purpose behind “OG Forever”.
