Lesotho musician Litshepe Lr is back with Mjolisi on “Ha Se Nna,” a cut that will be familiar to fans of their previous collaboration.
Clearly by now the two of them function well together. Ha Se Nna (It’s not me in Sesotho) continues the same cooperation with a new emotional aspect following “Lethemba Laka” off the same “Maja – Samo” EP. Litshepe Lr’s discography continues to show his belief in collaboration above solo efforts, as Mjolisi adds his own solid presence to the mix here once again. That’s the chemistry that makes the pairing work.
Production is warm and traditional, constructed around Sesotho instrumentation overlaid with a contemporary beat underneath. Nothing here zooms by a moment. The arrangement maintains a calm, reflective pace, and both voices have room to exchange the song’s primary proclamation.
Litshepe Lr delivers his verses with real conviction, pushing back on blame or expectation placed on him unfairly. His Sesotho lyricism is always straight, opting for straightforward honesty over any glammed-up defense. Then Mjolisi adds his own texture, strengthening the idea without ever crowding what Litshepe had previously established.
Because it believes in a clear proclamation, no need for pretty words, Ha Se Nna works, said in plain.
