Harmonize opens out his sixth studio album, “31,” with “For No Reason,” featuring Young Lunya, and leading with a Tanzanian rapper is a statement of true intent.
The decision is structurally intended. An album that boasts Wande Coal, Stonebwoy, Yemi Alade, Mohamed Ramadan and nine more international names during its runtime may easily come off as a parade of external approval. But opening with Young Lunya—one of Tanzania’s most respected rappers—first grounds the “31” project in its East African origins. So the audience understands where Harmonize is coming from before learning where the record goes.
The reunion also has momentum of its own. Their earlier collaboration “Mkuu Wa Majeshi” from June 2026 already established a working synergy between both musicians. So ‘For No Reason’ does not start at zero. It picks up mid-conversation between two creatives who know each other’s pace.
Lunya’s verse on the album opener is a burst of energy that brings a distinct vibe to the rest of the tracks on “31.” It begins with a hip-hop and Bongo Flava combination and there’s an initial sense of range—this album isn’t going to sit in one lane for 14 tracks. That expectation is set from the first bar with hard-hitting flows and melodious Bongo Flava vigor.
Harmonize said “31” is a reflection of his musical journey, personal growth, hardships and successes. That kind of statement album should start with a fellow Tanzanian on a hard-hitting record that refuses to explain itself to anyone.
