Fally Ipupa – Miss Lolo

“Miss Lolo” Congolese rumba icon Fally Ipupa remakes a true classic, his rumba-laced version of Ivorian legend Meiway’s cherished ballad, featured on “XX: Délirium.” This one brings together two of Africa’s most important musical scenes on one song.

Fally also didn’t simply silently pilfer this one, it was really formally sanctioned by Meiway himself for the reinterpretation. It started to go viral in February after a TikTok broadcast in which Fally played a modified portion of the Ivorian song and fans went crazy. He’s aggressively building up toward international landmarks like his Stade de France gigs, so altering a song so beloved feels like an intentional bridge between Abidjan and Kinshasa.

The production takes the original into full Congolese rumba territory, giving the familiar tune a whole new rhythmic foundation. Nothing here sounds like a lazy cover-up.
