South African producer Dimphowadiwave teams up with Key Tech, Sia_TheBee and BeeKayrsa28 on “Jopo Ke Jop,” a new Amapiano cut meant to move a room.
This cooperation is embedded in a much bigger network of linkages. Dimphowadiwave and Sia_TheBee have collaborated on multiple recordings such as “Zaka Mkokotlo” and “Wadi Wave,” respectively, and Key Tech and BeeKayrsa28 have a solid collaboration throughout songs such as “Kgotso Batswadi”. So “Jopo Ke Jop” is basically two already established creative duos put together on one single, not just four random people thrown together to fill out the credits.
That familiarity shows up in the final product. Each artist adds a different texture, without getting in each other’s way. It’s infectious beats at the core, with vocal performances adding melody on top that don’t need to be the focus. It’s the sort of synergy that’s tough to imitate, and it shows in the naturalness of the transitions throughout the track.
What’s really remarkable about Dimphowadiwave’s growing library is the high number of collaborations, typically with the same group of South African Amapiano musicians. Jopo Ke Jop continues that pattern and further cements a scene built on actual creative partnerships as opposed to one off feature grabs.
