A recognizable piece of Ivorian pop culture receives a new rap interpretation on “Gaou la,” a 2026 collab between Ivorian rapper Didi B and Nigerian rapper 6uff.
The record samples the timeless “1er Gaou” by Magic System, linking the new record to a song that helped Ivorian popular music travel far from its homeland. Didi B spoke to grounds in a very local landscape, but in a modern rap context.
“Gaou la” is not a pure remake; it adds new vocal elements to that familiar source, leaving both performers free to put their own stamp on material already heavy with cultural memory.
6uff joins the collaboration on the back of a successful run in 2026, which has seen him drop the IRON ORE EP and “10 Minutes” with ODUMODUBLVCK. This Cote d’Ivoire-Nigeria link is another feather in his growing cap.
