Ghanaian rap titan Kweku Smoke collaborates with Dikoo on “Mmereniho,” the sixth offering on his seventh studio album “No Days Off.”
Kweku Smoke built the record on that belief. He’s not rapping to get discovered anymore. He is rapping knowing others are listening to him.
The music is just over three minutes long and was produced by SC4 and Whydah. But the short runtime plays to the record’s advantage. Instead of adding additional verses to extend the track, both performers say their piece and leave gracefully. Dikoo’s verse fits seamlessly with Kweku Smoke’s gruff delivery. So “Mmereniho” feels like a genuine two-way collaboration, not a lead rapper with a supporting act filling space.
The album also dropped on the same September 4 date as Black Sherif’s “Sun Sherif” EP—sparking amicable disputes across Ghanaian social media on whose project to stream first. But “Mmereniho” is one of No Days Off’s most immediately engaging tracks, and it stands on its own.
Some of the hard-hitting music and crisp songwriting on this single is similar to that of “Powerhouse” with Kwesi Arthur and “Faith” with Lasmid, the collaboration standouts on the entire album.
