Backstory is hugely important here. Simnandi Records losing Muziqal Tone and ATK MusiQ independently became one of the mosttalked-about industry mistakes ine South African music circles. One of the main reasons why those series connected well with the youthful Amapiano fans was the individual releases from the Xpensive Collections era. So it’s like every time these two come back together, it’s the energy of something that should never have been split. “Sorry Makhe” goes on to reconcile with Civil Soul and as the emotive vocal anchor.
The soulful depth of the record comes from Civil Soul’s contribution. His warm vocal presence dominates the arrangement and elevates the entire production to a space that their strictly instrumental Amapiano records never quite hit. So the three-way chemistry here makes something more complete than each of the two give on their own.
