Nigerian imprint TIGA INC. links Berri-Tiga and Rybeena for “Clock It,” a feel-good Afrobeats collaboration about desire and living in the moment.
The idea is light and the execution is in keeping with it. TIGA INC. doesn’t burden “Clock It” with hefty themes. The work employs colloquial Nigerian idioms and whimsical parallels to evoke overwhelming appeal—maintaining a lively tone and street-authentic language throughout. So the record hits straight away instead of making the listener dwell with it before it lands.
Berri-Tiga offers the street-hop reputation his discography has been progressively building up. He’s been carving out a specific path in contemporary Nigerian music with genuine consistency, with a breakout via affiliation with “Machala” and songs like “Adamma” with Zlatan and Izztopik. Still sharp and rhythmically exact, his voice on “Clock It” doesn’t lose the casual enthusiasm the song demands.
Then Rybeena adds the melodic hooks that give the record its warmth and replayability. Her ad-libs and vocal moments sprinkled throughout the arrangement give “Clock It” a sonic lightness that pure rap collaborations frequently lack. So the record is nicely placed between street intensity and pop accessibility, appealing to both audiences without compromising either one.
Producers Portifar and YO X lay down crisp drum patterns, energetic basslines and a groove that stays active the whole way through. but the layout is concise and intentional rather than expansive. Because an album this much fun works best when it doesn’t outstay its welcome.
