Grammy-nominated Nigerian producer DeeYasso emerges into the light with “What Have You Done,” a self-produced heartache tune featuring Syemca.
The record is an intentional change to 2026 for DeeYasso. His credits already include Yemi Alade’s Grammy-nominated “Tomorrow,” tracks for Dave, Sauti Sol and Oxlade, and the Chike “In Love” duet earlier this year. But each solo performance release drives the narrative further—this is a producer who can also carry an album with his own voice. “What Have You Done” creates a more persuasive case than anything he’s presented before.
Syemca is the ideal voice for this emotional landscape. His recent work with Chike on “Pity My Soul” and “Love Egbugomo” revealed a singer who approaches emotional, R&B-leaning material with a genuine warmth. So on “What Have You Done,” he adds the emotional dimension the writing asks for—expressing the anguish and uncertainty through his vocal contribution without overshadowing DeeYasso’s own performance.
The self-produced arrangement is ambient and mid-tempo all the way. DeeYasso leaves the electronic sounds spacious enough to allow both voices to sit high in the mix. So the emotional intensity in the writing comes over clearly, rather than being lost in a cluttered production. A heartbreak record needs the vocals up front, and this hits that balance right.
The transition from “Let Me Know” in June, a more playful, attraction-focused track, to “What Have You Done” demonstrates DeeYasso charting genuine emotional breadth in his 2026 output. Each publication recounts a different story of the same romance.
