Tanzanian producer and performer Adasco M2 M’bad has teamed up again with Munta Dee, and Buda Zoni has been brought in for “Sukuma.” The track packs a tremendous emotional punch while still retaining its fast-paced energy.
The prominent lyric speaks to everything about where the record dwells—”Moyo sukuma damu si vingine, moyo usidanganywe na vingine.” The inscription is approximately translated as “Heart, pump blood and nothing else; heart, do not be deceived by other things.” It refers directly to resilience and being faithful to your own route regardless of external pressure. It is this type of unique, quotable Swahili writing that allows a street record to circulate beyond its local audience.
“Sukuma” means “push” in Swahili—and the title and the writing both carry that forward energy through. Adasco M2 M’bad and Munta Dee had already displayed their chemistry on “Zoba” and “Yah Ramadhan.” So this reunion doesn’t need a warm-up period. Both artists walk in with a knowledge of the rhythm of the other. Buda Zoni offers a third dimension that gives some variety to the partnership without stopping the rhythm of the record.
The Singeli production architecture is crisp and deliberate all the way through. The excitement is fueled by quick percussion and sharp rhythmic patterns without sacrificing the emotional richness called for by the writing. So the record serves as both a street anthem and something with real passion underlying.
Adasco M2 M’bad’s 2026 run—”Niite” with Msomali Vitamin, “Mapenzi” with Sele Minamba, “Naogopa” with Malove Khan, Sunny Voice and Lody Music, and now “Sukuma”—indicates an artist developing a solid Singeli repertoire.
