As part of these ongoing efforts to enforce community guidelines and elevate safety on the platform, TikTok said it removed over 4 million videos and stopped more than 86,000 LIVE sessions in Nigeria. The figures were part of the company’s latest Q4 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report which gives more insight into the magnitude of its content moderation efforts across the country.
The report said TikTok had removed about 4.02 million videos from Nigerian users for violating its Community Guidelines. The platform said 99.9% of the offending content was proactively identified and taken down before users reported it, while 98.4% was taken down within 24 hours of posting.
The social media giant also increased its monitoring of TikTok LIVE, removing over 86,000 LIVE broadcasts in Nigeria for breaching its safety and content policies. The moves are part of a broader TikTok strategy to combat harmful content, misinformation, abuse and other violations on its platform.
In the same period, TikTok removed more than 175 million videos globally – about 0.5% of all content uploaded to the platform. The removals were mostly done via sophisticated automated detection systems, a testament to its continued investment in AI and content moderation technologies, the company said.
TikTok said it had stepped up efforts to fight false and harmful AI-generated content and bolster user protections globally. The company said it is focused on building a safe and trusted digital environment as its user base continues to grow.
The latest numbers underscore the increasing focus on online safety in Nigeria where TikTok continues to be a top social media network among youth, content creators, businesses, and entertainment enthusiasts. With the rise in digital engagement, there is also an increasing pressure on platforms to balance free speech with the need to stem the flow of harmful content online.
