“Xhoshi Ikati” is a serious lineup created by Woza Bakzin and GoldMax featuring DJ Tira, Captain, Massive DJ and Ray & Jay.
This is basically an amapiano posse cut, five, six deep on one song at this point. This is not a modest release; DJ Tira’s involvement ensures that. “Everybody’s got their following, so it took some doing to get them on one track.”
The log drum is clearly the star of the instrumental, but Massive DJ adds a bit more low end than usual that rattles a bit more. You can tell Captain’s production sensibilities from how layered the percussion gets without getting muddy. It’s busy but structured busy if you want to.
Woza Bakzin starts with a bang and sets a tempo the rest of the group has to keep up with. DJ Tira’s presence on the back end brings the veteran weight who doesn’t need to shout to be heard. You can hear who’s been doing this longest just by the way his portion sounds so laid-back.
Ray & Jay and Captain trade blows in the middle stretch to keep the excitement alive between the bigger names. No one is hiding in the audience here, which is honestly astounding for this many people on one song. Congratulations to GoldMax for putting it all together.
