After months of waiting, South African musician Tallrickyworldwide is back with “NGANENO” and brings along Orchid MusiQ and Lowfeye for a record that took a different road from what was first planned.
The backstory provides an interesting aspect to this release. Tallrickyworldwide has been hyping the album and publicly looking for a collab with Sjava, which would have made it a totally different kind of release. But the final version ended up with Lowfeye and Orchid MusiQ. So what happened on August 28 is an organic creative decision, not a premeditated one. And that change of course gives the partnership its own personality rather than being defined by the artist it almost featured.
Orchid MusiQ spent a busy 2026 developing the vocal versatility displayed here. Her Amapiano feature on “Uyadlala” with Sykes, Zeh McGeba and GL Ceejay surpassing one million streams on Spotify; her feature with Sam Deep on “Woza”; and her work with Da Muziqal Chef all prove that she enters on “NGANENO” as an established artist, not a supporting act. Lowfeye is the depth of production and performance that provides the song its aural character; his “EThekwini” with Sjava and GVNT showcased the kind of emotive Amapiano he works within most effortlessly.
Tallrickyworldwide’s active 2026 run—”KHOLWA,” “NGOZII,” “PHEZ’KWE MAKE,” “HYBO,” and “ABOUT 2 SWAG”—all dropping through the year—indicates this is not an artist pacing himself. He keeps dropping and NGANENO is the most collaborative and emotionally nuanced record in that series.
