Kenyan coastal music legend Susumila is back with a colorful new Afropop tune named “Udambu”, produced by Tokal Beats and distributed by Africori.
Susumila has earned his name for keeping the coastal Kenya sound alive without sounding stuck in the past. So “Udambu” does just that. Tokal Beats creates a rhythmic basis with powerful percussion and melodic compositions. But it’s Susumila’s Swahili vocal delivery that defines the record’s individuality. Production can set the table, but it’s the voice that makes folks stay.
The music is a combination of the Coastal Bongo Flava legacy and modern Afropop intensity. But it never pushes them to come together. Instead, the merging feels organic, the kind of thing that happens when an artist knows both worlds well enough to travel between them without losing his footing. Coastal listeners will feel the nuances of the culture immediately. But the current staging also opens the door to wider East African and diaspora audiences.

After his Radio Days LP and the Nipishe EP, he maintains the 2026 output constant and deliberate. “Some artists slack off mid-year, but Susumila is not one of them. It is building a body of work with each release and continues to represent the Kenyan coast with true pride.
