-pop trio Stray Kids extend a sweet pledge of solidarity on “I Do,” a melodious tune off their new mini album “THIS & THAT.”
This one is a great softie, balancing out the rougher edges of the record. Restart is where Changbin takes the lead composition, and the song is in real contrast to something like Way Out, trading bitterness for comfort instead. Stray Kids continue to prove that this album is based on duality, distinct shades of feeling side by side in eight tracks. I Do goes right toward the softer half of that spectrum.
Production remains melodious and warm throughout, crafted to contain both melancholy and hope without preference for either. Here the emotion is not overplayed. The structure allows the message to land softly rather than push a large surge.
I Do works because it makes the simple comfort something that genuinely lands, no hidden scars.
