Zimbabwean Zimdancehall star Nutty O has kicked off his new fifteen-track album “Different Root” with “Too Much” featuring Nigerian singer-songwriter Fido.
Nutty O’s real name is Carrington Simbarashe Chiwadzwa. He grew up in Mbare, Harare, where he fell in love with reggae music through his father’s UB40 CDs. He burst into the larger African music debate with “Kwandabva Kure” being the first Zimbabwean act to feature on DJ Edu’s Destination Africa show on BBC Radio 1Xtra. This new remix is from an artist with credentials, as his 2021 debut album “Mustard Seed” had over two million streams and earned him three ZIMA awards.
“Too Much” is the opening track on “Different Root,” and that says something as well. It sets the tone for a fifteen-song CD meant to showcase Nutty O’s breadth spanning dancehall, reggae and Afrobeats.
