Award-winning Tanzanian Bongo Flava heavyweight Mbosso returns with a completely spontaneous street-inspired tune named “Buku Jero,” officially released on August 6, 2026.
WCB Wasafi singer gives a sincere performance over production by Official Dadyoh, mixing deep melodies with the rich storytelling style that has become a signature feature of his music.
The name “Buku Jero” is taken from Tanzanian street language, a combination of “Buku” (one thousand) and “Jero” (five hundred) referring to 1,500 Tanzanian Shillings.
But the song is not solely about money, as Mbosso recalls his mother’s unconditional love, prayers and support while talking about challenges, financial strain and the disillusionment of individuals who hide behind artificial smiles.
The official video, directed by Fole X under the production label of Watu Wa Fole, adds extra depth to the emotional story behind the track.
With heartfelt lyrics, a message that resonates, and Mbosso’s special singing style, “Buku Jero” is another important piece of his Bongo Flava collection and a song that touches the everyday listener.
