And months before Seed dropped “Forever”, award-winning Ghanaian musician Gyakie teamed up with Ghanaian highlife heavyweight Bisa Kdei on the 2020 love song “Sor Mi Mu”.
Gyakie talks of the excitement of falling hard for someone, begging for proximity and comfort, acknowledging the depths to which love has got her. Complementing that affectionate direction is Bisa Kdei, who brings his established highlife presence to the duet.
Produced by iPappi, the three-minute single features both Twi and English in an easy conversational arrangement, with the recurring appeal to be held close anchoring the song’s fundamental message.
“Sor Mi Mu” is nevertheless a key early entry in Gyakie’s oeuvre, predating the broader breakthrough that followed “Forever,” and exhibiting the romantic songwriting impulses that would later come to define her music.
