Zambian musician General Kanene has released a new record titled “Vote For Jesus (Symbol Ni Lesa)”, a faith-driven song released during Zambia’s election season for 2026.
The timing makes the notion tough to dismiss. Political campaigns are pushing their symbols and slogans. General Kanene is using the same election language to point listeners to quite another direction. “The Symbol is God” in Bemba, and the message remains consistent all the way through. Trust in trust above politics. Choose Jesus over any political party.
The album combines his trademark Zambian sound with gospel-influenced production that stays palatable outside the church. The chorus lands early too and stays right away, just what you need for a message record to spread.
Released days before the election period, “Vote For Jesus” is part of a growing wave of faith-based records from Zambian artists reacting to the political climate this year. Earlier this month, Triple M’s “Kateka Umusuma” talked about leadership and prayer. General Kanene’s approach is more direct and spiritual.
