“USUMANU AND KEVWE” is one of the more story-led moments on North & South, as Nigerian rappers Erigga and EESKAY team up with Cleanblack Music for a tune that focuses on experiences shared throughout different sections of Nigeria.
The literature employs Usumanu and Kevwe as representatives of Northern and South-South perspectives, giving Erigga and EESKAY characters whose circumstances cross despite their diverse backgrounds in an effort to address brotherhood, survival, and economic hardship.
The track was produced by Tubase and arranged by Kachisicho “Jefe” Ayogu-Eze. The song’s 3 minutes and 18 seconds provide each rapper a chance to construct the narrative without losing the EP’s tight pace.
What gives the song weight in North & South is how directly it translates the project’s regional premise into a people-focused drama, demonstrating common challenges rather than treating Northern and Southern identity as opposing sides.
