Ghanaian rapper/singer Edoh YAT turns adversity, suspicion, and a need for respite into “Wind,” a 2019 song that found its way to his 2020 project Talking to God.
Edoh YAT writes from the standpoint of a person tired of bad situations and bad people, asking the people who only show up when they need aid, while hoping life can improve.
Fimfim is credited with production and engineering on the record. The hip-hop song is a little over four minutes long, giving the repeated refrain enough breathing space to become the emotional core of the tune without speeding through the lyrics.
Even years after its first release, “Wind” is still one of the most defining records in Edoh YAT’s discography, its themes of struggle and perseverance enabling it maintain a strong connection with listeners. In 2021 a remix version featuring Ghanaian rappers Guru and Medikal was dropped.
