DJ Junior Hassa brings together Kalifah Aganaga, Eddy Kenzo, Winnie Nwagi, Lil Pazo and Weasel on the “Nassanga Remix.” The line-up is something Uganda’s music industry hasn’t seen in a while.
The interesting thing about this remix is the narrative behind it. “Nassanga” was already undergoing a TikTok revival, bringing in an entirely new generation of listeners. Kalifah Aganaga revealed his reasoning clearly, he saw how Nigerian artists come together on popular songs to push them internationally and believed Uganda needs the same enthusiasm. Also, the official video created by Simon SPK had behind-the-scenes clips circulating on TikTok and Facebook before the complete release even came out.
Not everyone, however, agreed. Some admirers accused Aganaga of ruining the original. But with global appeal from Eddy Kenzo, stunning vocals from Winnie Nwagi, legendary status from Weasel, and Lil Pazo capping it off, the remix has enough firepower to make the point for itself.
