Nigerian Afrobeats star Dami Drizzy continues his 2023 release run with “Heavenly Sound,” coming at a time when his music is beginning to get greater exposure.
Following “Omo Elewa,” the single takes a more personal route as Dami Drizzy talks about painful situations, doubts from people around him and his will to keep moving forward despite them. His faith in God is also a significant part of his response to these demands.
The record is an Afrobeats composition driven by a hook that puts the chorus front and center while leaving enough space for his thoughts to play out in the lyrics. The basic refrain is easy to memorize because of its straightforward form, yet this doesn’t detract from the writing.
“Ifa Wa Kayejo” had already given him a larger audience; therefore, this release had a following to grow from. Its sympathetic lyricism and catchy chorus also help it remain in rotation for listeners going through his discography.
