Tanzanian rapper Barkeliam drops “DEPRESSION” his latest solo effort under OrbitMziki following a string of consistent singles in 2026.

Few Tanzanian artists have travelled as much as Barkeliam this year. “My Life” in April, “Tap Tap” in May and now “DEPRESSION” hot in July. But instead of chasing quantity, every record has been a different angle of who he is as an artist. Also known as Bushman, he made a name for himself with sharp, lyrical hip-hop that never quite softens its edges for a mass audience.

“DEPRESSION” is a darker and more personal track than “Tap Tap”. The title implies a record built on emotional heft rather than poetic bravado. But Barkeliam covers that ground with the same bluntness he brings to his harsher work. OrbitMziki’s production approach also allows the record space to breathe without crowding the subject matter with unnecessary noise.

Mental health discourse remains rare in East African hip-hop. So when a record like “DEPRESSION” drops from someone with Barkeliam’s street cred, it’s more than just a new single drop.
