Interesting American singer and recording artist, Ariana Grande comes through with this new banger titled Warning Signs (Interlude)
This one is slightly over a minute long yet it still has significant weight between “Freak” and “Like I Do.” It has the same instrumental DNA as the last tune, “Freak,” and thus serves as a natural bridge between the two. This interlude is really the tipping point where the album goes from reflection to action.
Production on Ariana Grande – Warning Signs (Interlude) is foggy and subdued, prioritizing ambiance over structure as it completely forgoes a traditional chorus. Nothing really demands attention, it just softly pulls the listener in. That constraint lends the music a confessional, almost whispered closeness throughout.
The text is blunt, and does not clothe the hurt in metaphor. That rawness offers listeners a good sense of what’s driving the album’s more confident tracks that follow.
“Warning Signs (Interlude)” works because it doesn’t try to wrap anything up in a neat little bow in its brief run-time. Instead it just stays in that vulnerable instant before the armor goes up. It’s that honesty that makes the second half of the record hit as hard as it does.
