Jose Chameleone – Yeffe

Ugandan Afrobeat icon Jose Chameleone teams up with JeffKiwa on “Yeffe,” released on Team No Sleep (TNS) Entertainment through Opus Music Africa.

The record is two minutes even. No time to spare. Chameleone brings the same certain musical intuition he had when “Mama Mia” and “Badilisha” laid the foundation of his reputation in East and Central Africa. But “Yeffe” doesn’t turn to his collection for consolation. It goes on.

JeffKiwa contributes vocal texture that lends the collaboration its contemporary edge. Both artists share the record naturally—neither one crowded the other, and the connection feels comfortable rather than planned. So “Yeffe” is a true coupling, not a veteran giving his name to a younger act’s album.

Afrosounds is on the pulse without following the trend. From Zouk to reggae, to dancehall, to Afropop, Chameleone has always been flexible between genres, and “Yeffe” is no different. Because an artist who has been around since 1996 and still sounds current doesn’t get there by mistake. He does it by keeping curious.

The official music video was released August 17, two weeks after the audio. They generated auditory momentum before dropping the graphic so when people came in, they already knew the hook. So the video has something to introduce, rather than something to reward.

His 2026 streak also includes “Nakutegeera,” “Ngooma,” “Gumitte,” and “You Know,” all dropping in the same year. So “Yeffe” is no uncommon gift of a legend. Another chapter in the story of a still working at full speed.
