Afro-fusion artist and multi-instrumentalist Dessie continues his 2026 output with “Seduction,” a solo album that comes weeks after “Tranquility” and picks up where his “Realer” EP left off.
The remarkable thing about Dessie’s approach is the level of creative control he has over his releases. On “Seduction,” he does the songwriting, production, engineering and bass guitar work himself. So the record is his vision from start to finish — no external production telling you what to hear. It’s a level of creative ownership he rarely has this far into his career, and it’s evident in how specific the record sounds.
The Afrobeats sound remains warm and melodious throughout. But there’s a sense of atmospheric oomph to “Seduction” above the material on the “Realer” EP — leisurely, confident, and rooted in a groove that deserves the moniker without overdoing it to live up to it. Because a record called “Seduction” either possesses that drive or exposes the gap between the idea and the execution. Dessie closes the deficit smartly.
His 2026 run is an indication of precise pace, too. “Realer” was the world’s introduction, “443” featuring Sterlingouttapocket was a collab feature, “Magaluf” provided the summer excitement, “Tranquility” cooled it down and now “Seduction” brings a fresh temp. Every release adds a different color to the same canvas without making the picture look jumbled.
