Tanzanian gospel priest Dr. Ipyana joins forces with Jastin Asifiwe to deliver a powerful Swahili worship record titled “Nimekombolewa Na Yesu,” based on redemption and joy.

This one preserves a true tradition. Dr. Ipyana’s repertoire is highly influenced by the Tenzi za Rohoni hymn tradition. And it follows that thread with him doing his own mashup of the same hymn and oldies like “Yesu Kwetu Ni Rafiki.” The title itself, meaning I have been rescued by Jesus, bears generations of Swahili Christian devotion behind it. Here, Jastin Asifiwe coming back into the fold really adds another layer to a collaboration.

The production is based on a live worship ambiance with expressive vocalists and congregational energy throughout. Here nothing hurries for a moment. The arrangement is at a conventional, hymn-like tempo, with room to breathe in personal devotion and in church service.

Let this be the anchor of your quiet time, when the thanks for grace needs to be said out.
