On “The Return,” ATK MusiQ delivers one of the greatest lineups with “Sweety,” a six-person collab with Chle, Mkeyz, Tee Tee SA, Snyper Reloaded and Frankeyz.
Six names on one disk sounds like a lot of people. But ATK MusiQ have proved on this comeback album that they know how to work space. Sweety does not feel cluttered. Every artist gets their moment without elbowing others out of frame.
Tee Tee SA and Snyper Reloaded run together throughout “The Return” like a unit; their connection is tight enough to carry a song together. But “Sweety” uses them differently. Frankeyz brings in a melodic tone that pushes the album somewhere warmer while Chle and Mkeyz provide complementary textures to give the tune its layered vibe.
The song also made its way to the list of songs that leaked online before of “The Return” finally dropped. Usually that kind of early traction is a sign that people are responding to the energy, not simply the names. And “Sweety” warrants that reaction — it flows with the kind of carefree assurance ATK MusiQ has when they play without pressure.
Most of “The Return” deals with heavier issues, but this cut lives in a more light-hearted and joyous place. That balance is critical on a double record. Projects as ponderous as this need moments like “Sweety” to break them up.
