Cape Town rap star K.Keed teams up with Orish on “Ngangelizwe II”, a very intimate sequel track off their Umgaranto II album.
The original “Ngangelizwe” was one of the best tracks from the inaugural uMgaranto EP in 2023. “Going back to that title on the sequel isn’t nostalgia – it’s a statement. K.Keed and Orish aren’t running from where they started; they are building on it with intention.
The team called Umgaranto II more cinematic, more purposeful than the first tape. And at the center of this progress is “Ngangelizwe II”. You can hear the difference between where they were three years ago and where they are today — similar DNA, tighter execution.
There is tremendous emotional depth to K.Keed’s poetry on this one. The type you write when you have really been through something. Ngangelizwe” means “by the world” in isiXhosa. That weight – of being shaped and tested by life – is in every bar.
“Ngangelizwe II” illustrates that certain stories need a second chapter – have you seen the complete Umgaranto II? Give us your verdict in the comments!
