South African producer Jnr SA has teamed up with Dlala Thukzin and Kabza De Small for a thumping new Amapiano track called “Rider.”
This one follows Jnr SA’s other recent song, “911” starring Funky Qla and Kabza De Small, maintaining a busy output schedule. Dlala Thukzin and Kabza De Small are serious pedigree in the genre and both feature on the LP. A lineup like that means a track with some real intention behind it.
The production has deep rolling log drums with a constant mesmerizing bounce. Nothing is being hurried here for a quick payoff. It’s a patient arrangement, leaving space for the groove to build and settle in over time.
His input has acquired a signature stamp inside the South African dance music landscape. The uniformity here really gives the partnership weight.
The polish on this tune is a reflection of Kabza De Small’s influence, mixing deep house ideas with the basic bounce of Amapiano. That synthesis has characterized much of his catalog as a preeminent force of the genre. So “Rider” is one of those records that has enough skill to be good even in a busy release calendar.
