Angolan zouk act Fresh Low links up with J Levy and Graciano Damásio on sultry new record “Mulata.”
Zouk is still king in Angola’s music scene, and this collaboration is a full-on homage to that tradition. It is a natural pairing, with three voices from the Lusophone African circuit coming together. Both artists already have weight in the romantic music sector in Angola.
The very title, “Mulata,” suggests the flirty, admiring tone that permeates the lyrics.
All in all, Fresh Low – Mulata works because all three of the artists are committed to a single mood. Nothing on this album is pulling it in multiple directions, and that cohesion makes it easy to enjoy from beginning to end. It fits perfectly with the biggest zouk records of the year in Angola.
“Mulata” is a must-have on any playlist for slow romantic zouk nights.
