Nigerian great gospel artist Don Mo comes out with a new single titled “OLOWOGBOGBORO”. The title alone is loaded before the song starts.
“Olowogbogboro” is a Yoruba term for God meaning “the Outstretched Arm,” and it has profound roots in the worship culture of Nigeria. But Don Mo puts his own particular spin on it and doesn’t ride the familiarity of the term. So this doesn’t feel like a cover or rehash of what other people have done with the same idea. It’s just like his own experience.
It’s a song that lives in that place of genuine, passionate worship where faith and personal testimony meet. Don Mo’s delivery is warm and authentic throughout, which is when gospel music connects most readily with listeners. The production also keeps things simple enough such that the spiritual weight of the title may carry the record forward.
“OLOWOGBOGBORO” talks directly to anyone who has experienced a turnaround they couldn’t explain.
